About this Course

On completion of this course, participant will acquire the WSH knowledge and skills to assist in the implementation of WSH control measures and management system. 

The knowledge acquired is mainly factual and procedural requiring basic comprehension skills

COURSE OUTLINE

CU 1 : Communicate and Relate Effectively at the Workplace (ESWSQ)

Use effective communication techniques to interpret, clarify, analyse and respond to information received, and use effective negotiation skills to resolve conflicts for a win-win outcome, taking into consideration social and cultural differences.

CU 2 : Participate in Implementing WSH Management Process

This unit of competency specifies the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of a WSH representative to promote workers’ participation in the WSH programmes.

CU 3 : Check and Report Outcome of WSH Inspection

This unit of competency specifies the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of a WSH representative to participate in compliance inspection and report the outcome of the inspection to superiors in the organisation.

CU 4 : Solve Problems and Make Decisions at Operations Level (ESWSQ)

This Unit acquire techniques in problem-solving and decision making, including root cause analysis of problem, generating and evaluating alternative solutions, making appropriate decisions, and taking responsibility for the decisions within own circle of influence.

CU 5 :Support WSH Legal Compliance and Incident Reporting

This unit of competency specifies the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of a WSH representative to identify key legal and other requirements relating to the duties and responsibilities of stakeholders, monitor legal compliance and report incidents as well as non-compliance issues according to organizational SOP.

CU 6 : Identify WSH Hazards and Maintain Risk Control Measures

This unit of competency specifies the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of a WSH representative to identify a range of hazards, use risk matrix to evaluate the risk and take appropriate risk control measures according to the organization SOP.

LEARNING OUTCOME

Participants who had completed and assessed to be competent in each module would be awarded a Statement of Attainment (SOA). The full transcript for CERTIFICATE IN WORKPLACE SAFETY AND HEALTH will be awarded by WDA for those who have successfully completed all the 6 modules and assessed as competent.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This certificate course is designed to prepare individuals to be assigned as WSH Representative / Promoter / Advocator after certification. It is suitable for individuals with limited WSH knowledge and skills as well as junior supervisors and new entrants into the industry.

Pre-requisites

ESS WPLN Level 4 or Completed Secondary 2 education
