About this Course

This programme is a comprehensive programme which allows opportunities for students to learn and acquire skills, knowledge and competencies which will prepare them for a career in the hospitality and tourism industry.

The curriculum places importance on both the theoretical underpinning knowledge and practical experiences essential for aspiring hoteliers. In addition to developing students’ functional competencies in hospitality, their managerial, operational and human development capabilities essential for the hospitality and tourism industry will also be enhanced through the broad-based curriculum.

Mode of Study

Full time

On an average, the teacher-to-student ratio is 1:40 for theory lessons and 1:20 for practical lessons.

Assessment Framework

Theory and practical examinations, practical exercises, presentations, written assignments, projects, class participation and performance during industrial attachment.

Certification

Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management awarded by SHATEC.

Progression Pathway

Upon successful completion of the SHATEC Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management programme, graduates with the necessary requirements may opt to go overseas and seek credit transfers at a host of institutions of Higher Learning that SHATEC has articulation with.

Entry Requirement

Singaporean and PR

(Minimum age of 16 years old and above)

  • Preferably 2 GCE “A” Level passes including a pass in GCE “O” Level English.
  • Students with good 5 GCE “O” level passes including a pass in GCE “O” Level English may also apply.
  • Pass a selection interview for admission into the programme OR
  • Graduates of the following polytechnic diplomas (with a minimum cumulated GPA of 2.8 or equivalent):
  • Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management (Temasek Polytechnic)
  • Diploma in Hotel & Leisure Facilities Management (Singapore Polytechnic)
  • Diploma in Hospitality & Tourism Management with Hotel Management Specialisation (Nanyang Polytechnic)
  • Diploma in Restaurant and Culinary Operations (Republic Polytechnic)
  • Diploma in Hotel and Hospitality Management (Republic Polytechnic)

Pass a selection interview for admission into the programme.
