About this Course

The course aims to develop independent research and study skills required when working at senior managerial level in the industry. It is therefore an excellent preparation for either entry to the workplace or as a springboard into final year bachelor degree level study.

Objectives and  Expected Outcomes

The CTH Level 5 Diploma in Hospitality is a substantive management programme.  It aims to provide students with an understanding of the managerial, decision-making and leadership aspects of the hospitality industry. 

Course Syllabus / Content: 

  • Operational Finance in Tourism & Hospitality
  • Human resource management in the tourism and hospitality industry
  • Strategic marketing in the tourism and hospitality industry
  • Customer relationship Management in the tourism and hospitality industry Contemporary issues in the tourism and hospitality industry food and beverage management
  • Facilities management in the tourism and hospitality industry work Experience with work assessment project

Assessment

Closed book written examination for:

  • Contemporary issues in the tourism and hospitality industry  

Assessment (100%)

•       Operational Finance in Tourism and Hospitality

•       Human Resource Management in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry

•       Strategic Marketing in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry

•       Food and Beverage Management

Work assessment or Assignment (100%):

  • Customer relationship management in the tourism and hospitality industry
  • Facilities management in the tourism and hospitality industry

*Note: candidate must choose one of the above for work assessment, which will be performed during the 6-month work experience. Individual modules shall be graded either as fail, pass, merit or distinction. However, the qualifications are either achieved or not achieved. 

Certification

Students who have completed and passed all the required modules will be awarded 

  • Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management 

Progression Path

Students are able to progress to CTH Level 6 Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism Management

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum Age: 18
  • Academic Level:   Diploma or Equivalent
  • Language Proficiency: GCE 'N' Level English/ GCE 'O' Level English/ IELTS 5.5 or equivalent
  • Work Experience (If applicable): Matured candidate who is above 18 years old with at least three years of working experience in hospitality and/or tourism industry
