About this Course

This programme provides a headway for student who is going to join the Human Resource job market and meet the fresh challenges that are part of the of a rapidly changing Human Resource environment. It set the path for student  to move up academically to a degree.

Course Syllabus/Content: (Module Descriptors)

Introduction to Business

In this module, the learner will understand the main accounting concepts and sources of finance for business, the need for human resource planning, and the importance of motivation in theory and in practice. Understand the main accounting concepts and sources of finance for business and the marketing process including marketing strategy, marketing planning and market research. Understand the factors that influence the scale of production, the location of production and the choice between different types of production process  and understand how the external environment creates opportunities and threats for a business. Understand the structure and classification of business. 

Introduction to Business Communication 

This Unit will enable learners to understand and know how to apply the principles which govern the transmission of information in business situations. Be able to compose all common types of written communication in a clear , complete and correct way . Understand the principles of communicating orally in an effective way and understand the importance of non verbal signals in communication . Understand how common barriers to successful communication arise, and how they can be overcome.Understand the content of a passage of simple business information and know how to summarize it effectively . Understand the role of computers and other modern communication technologies in business communication. Understand common business and communications terms

Managing People

This unit will enable learners to understand the fundamental principles of people leadership and management applied by organizations wishing to get the best out of their people and the importance of external environmental and social contingencies as factors which influence the practice of people management and the psychological contract between employer and employee. They will also understand the changing attitudes and expectations of people in the world of work and the changing expectations of employers so far as the attitudes, behaviour and performance of their people are concerned. Finally, the learner will understand the basic framework (‘hygiene’) factors and the differentiator (‘motivator’) factors which structure the performance of people in organizations, the specific role of managerial leadership in organizations as a means of inspiring exceptional levels of achievement and the features of High Performance Working (HPW) organizations and also the principal characteristics of poor-performing organizations. 

Personnel Administration 

This unit will enable learners to understand the support role and operational functions of the Personnel Administrator in the typical organization and the significance of the factors that affect the way in which the personnel/HR function operates, and which therefore influence the role and functions of the Personnel Administrator. They will also understand the competencies required by an effective and efficient Personnel Administrator and know how the Personnel Administrator can make a worthwhile contribution as a Personnel Administrator to the design of an organization’s HR plans and the day-to-day operation of its people resourcing practices. Finally, the learner will know how the Personnel Administrator can make a worthwhile contribution to the design, implementation, evaluation and improvement of an organization’s induction, training, learning and development processes, know how the Personnel Administrator can make a worthwhile contribution to the design, implementation, evaluation and improvement of an organization’s performance management systems and know how the Personnel Administrator can make a worthwhile contribution to the design, implementation, evaluation and improvement of an organization’s employee relations and employee engagement practices

Assessment

  • Written Exams
  • Each unit will be assessed via a three examination, set and marked by ABE. 

Eligibility for Graduation

Students are expected to attain a minimum of 40% in order to pass the examination and to pass examination  paper. 

Students who have successfully passed all required modules will be eligible for graduation.  

Certification

Students who have completed and passed all the required modules will be awarded

ABE Level 4 Diploma in Human Resource Management

ABE has agreement with following universities to allow its level 4 Diploma holders on to various stages of relevant degree courses:

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum Age: Atleast 16 years old
  • Academic Level:  GCE ‘N’ Level/ GCE ‘O’ Level or equivalent
  • Language Proficiency : GCE ‘N’ Level English/GCE ‘O’ level English /IELTS 5.0 or equivalent

  • Theory lectures
