Translating Strategy into Learning

About this Course

For a long time, learning and development have been viewed as purely Human Resource Department implementing and deploying organisation HR initiatives. The overarching assumption is that HR initiatives will be aligned with business strategies and whatever programmes that learning and development run, will in some way be related to the business initiatives.

Increasingly, business leaders are struggling to find the line of sight between training programmes and their business priorities. The unfortunate outcome is an increased polarisation of learning and development programmes with business initiatives, when in fact, both should be going hand-in-glove. Tightening resources and budgets are increasingly clouding business leaders’ view of the relevance of learning programmes to their immediate business priorities.

With this worrying trend, it is imperative that HR Leaders and L&D Leaders create clearer line of sight between their programmes with business strategies and initiatives. HR Leaders and L&D Leaders can no longer assume that the connection between their programmes with business priorities is a given. HR Leaders and L&D Leaders need to pro-actively engage with business leaders to help connect the dots between business strategy with training and learning initiatives.

This workshop is designed to equip participants with a framework and a structured approach to engage with business leaders on matters related to learning and development. It will provide participants with the skills necessary to engage in meaningful discussions with business leaders and build advocacy and support for learning and development initiatives. The skills, knowledge and competencies learned from this workshop if well applied, will position participants as a strategic partner who can help drive business by effectively translating strategy into learning needs.
