Powerful Listening from the Inside Out

About this Course

“Powerful Listening from the Inside Out requires a high level of self-awareness and responsibility. By understanding our personal style of listening (and speaking) from the inside out, we will go a long way towards creating positive and lasting impressions and connections with others.”

Why You Should Attend This Course:

Listening is one of the most important skills we can learn and nurture. How actively we listen has a major impact on our job effectiveness, and on the quality of our relationships with others in the world. We listen to Get Information, Understand, Learn, Connect, Act Out, Get Results and we listen for enjoyment too!

Given all this listening we do, we would think we'd be good at it! In fact we're not. Based on a study, we only remember 25-50% of what we hear. That means that when you talk to your boss, colleagues, customers or spouse, children for 10 minutes, they only really hear 2 1⁄2 - 5 minutes of the conversation. Turn it around and it reveals that when we are receiving directions or being presented with information, we aren't hearing the whole message either. We hope the important parts are captured in our 25-50%, but what if they’re not?

Clearly, listening is a skill that we can all benefit from and improve. By becoming active listeners, you will enhance your communication effectiveness, as well as your ability to connect, influence and negotiate. Most importantly you will boost the capacity to understand others and make yourselves understood. What's more, you’ll definitively increase your chances to positively handle conflicts and minimise misunderstandings – crucial factors for peak performance at the workplace and harmony in family and relationships.
