Well, you can discover the reason in this course! You will learn how to retain food quality, as well as to perform routine checks for food content, flavour and appearance, and collect food samples for analysis.

- Maintain food safety and food hygiene standards in food industries.
- Perform basic measurements and calibration techniques in the laboratory.
- Conduct physical and chemical checks and tests.
- Perform basic microbiological tasks.

Nitec in Applied Food Sciences graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics.
Nitec in Applied Food Sciences graduates with a GPA of 2.3 and above may also apply for progression to related Higher Nitec courses offered by ITE.
Career Prospects
Nitec in Applied Food Science graduates are employed in food manufacturing / processing / production plants and factories, catering facilities, as well as major F&B retail outlets. Some of the job titles held by graduates include Food Technician, Food Production Technician and Food Processing Technician.
There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. Food technicians with work experience and good performance may be Food Production Supervisors.
Entry Requirements
To apply for the Nitec in Applied Food Science course, you need to have:
GCE ‘O’ level grades in Mathematics and Science
Or
GCE ‘N’ level passes in Mathematics, Science and one other subject
