If you enjoy working in an environment filled with adrenaline rush and love the challenge of making decisions that can matter between life and death, join us and be a paramedic in pre-hospital care. Be ready to restart the heart using an automated external defibrillator, relieve the shortness of breath of an asthmatic patient or be prepared to assist in the delivery of a newborn.
The course will provide you with the knowledge and skills of operating as a paramedic in the emergency ambulance. Be expected to be equipped with essential skills to assess patient independently in the pre-hospital setting and provide emergency treatment to patient in critical condition.

- Lead an ambulance crew and perform as a crew leader.
- Manage patients with medical and trauma emergencies and provide appropriate treatments.
- Administer medications based on treatment protocols.

- Prioritize and manage emergency cases in a mass casualty situation.
- Provide quality pre-hospital treatment and stay clearheaded in crisis situations and disaster.

Progression Opportunities
Higher Nitec in Paramedic & Emergency Care graduates with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 and above may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics.
Career Prospects
Higher Nitec in Paramedic & Emergency Care graduates are employed as paramedics by ambulance service providers such as Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) or other private ambulance operators. They can also be employed to assume various roles such as trainers, emergency response medics in various healthcare organizations and hospitals.

Entry Requirements
To apply for the Higher Nitec in Paramedic & Emergency Care, you need to have:
Nitec in Nursing with minimum GPA of 2.8 (inclusive of CCA bonus)
- Applicants applying for this course must ensure that they are free from colour appreciation deficiency.
- Applicants must undergo an admission interview.
- Applicants must pass a pre-admission medical examination.
