About this Course

Programme Overview

This programme is specially designed to enable childcare assistants to play a valuable role in supporting the childcare teachers in classroom management and supervision of children aged 0-8 years.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the course, students will be able to: 

  1. Acquire knowledge and skills in the growth and development of the child
  2. Meet and respond to the basic needs of children
  3. Plan and deliver quality programs and experiences for young children
  4. Provide a stimulating and safe environment for young children
  5. Demonstrate understanding of the roles and responsibilities as a caregiver

Entry Requirements

Minimum Secondary 2 level education

Assessment

The course is delivered through a variety of engaging, interactive and hands-on modes, which include face-to-face sessions, small group discussions, projects and role-play.

Duration

The course comprises of six modules conducted over 4 months on a part-time basis or 2 months on a full-time basis. Students are required to complete 120 classroom hours and 60 practicum hours.

Requirement for Graduation

To qualify for certification of the programme and/or progression to the next level of the programme, students must pass all prescribed modules and practicum (where applicable)

o   Students will be notified on the collection of transcripts within 3 months from the last assessment.

o   The certificates will be presented to the student upon graduation annually.

Award

Students who successfully complete all modules will be awarded the Fundamentals Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education by Asian International College.
