Certificate in Marine Offshore Systems Module Synopsis Marine Engineering Systems The module aims to provide students with a broad understanding of marine engineering systems such as, marine propulsion and auxiliary systems. Topics include fundamentals of applied thermofluids on marine applications, marine engines, pipe design, flow control, pumps and pumping, heat transfer and heat exchangers, diesel engines, fuel systems, cooling systems, lubrication and lubricating oil systems, and reliability concepts. The module also covers the basics of marine instrumentation and controls systems. Offshore Production Technology The module aims to provide students with a broad overview of the offshore oil and gas industry in the ASEAN region and other parts of the world. This module covers fundamental understanding of the current concepts of upstream offshore production technology, working principles of topside production modules and subsea modules; and considerations for field layout. Basic chemistry and properties of natural gas and oil would also be discussed. Offshore Drilling and Structures The module aims to provide students with the engineering principles and operations of offshore drilling and offshore structures. Students are exposed to the latest engineering concepts and practices in offshore design, construction and installation. They are also given opportunities to explore the capabilities of a software package for structural analysis of offshore platforms.
