Course Description

By the end of the course, you will have essential skills to interact with parents, family members and significant others so that the best care for their children is delivered.

You will complete the following sections:

1. Philosophy and Policies of Services

2. Use communication strategies

3. Strategies for regular communication with families

4. Collaborate with families about their children’s needs and their concerns

5. Developmental Norms

Certification

Upon successful completion of this unit, you will receive a WSQ Certification - Statement of Attainments. For continuing education, you can enroll in the WSQ CU-Applying Basic Health, Hygiene, Safety and Nutrition Practices for Children 0-8 years

and/or WSQ CU-Support Early Intervention Programmes for Infants and Children 0-8 years. You can also pursue the Fundamental Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education.

Entry Requirements

Language:

Intermediate ESS Level 4; able to read, write, and understand instructions in English at Secondary 2 Level

Academic Background:

Minimum Secondary 2

Routine Care & Learning Activities:

Must be able to assist children in such routines as feeding, bathing, playing and assist in lesson-preparation.
