About this Course

Program Introduction

The phrase ‘special educational needs’ refers to kids who have understanding problems or disabilities that formulate it harder for them to be taught than most children of the same age. In ASAS, we provide you the techniques and methods on enhancing your skills in treating the special needs students. You learn how to work with children or youths who have mixture of disabilities; understand the various teaching methods to assist these children for better living; and how to work closely with the parents to update the progression and promote learning from home.Potential Career Path in following industry: Special Need Assistant & Teachers, Counselors, Teaching assistants, Teachers in Pre-school, Kindergarten to Secondary level, Childcare worker.

Structure and Duration

8 Modules

Minimum 12 months, Part-time

2 evenings per week, 6:45pm – 9:15pm

Assessment Methods

The following types of direct assessment methods are used as evaluation tools for each module:

Assignments (60%)

Mid-term Exam (20%)

Final Exam (20%)

Assignments may consist of Multiple choice, True/False, Short answer questions and written assignment such as essays, Case Studies, Critical Reviews and Research Papers.

Delivery Method

Classroom based.

Graduation Requirements

Achieve a minimum 24 credits and earn at least a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0.

Program Subjects

Students must complete 8 subjects which include the 3 Compulsory subjects and choose 5 subjects from the list of Electives.

Eligibility

Minimum 16 years old Completed ’O’ Level or ITE CertificateStudent with ‘N’ Level is required to complete the ‘Certificate in Writing & Communication’ with minimum Grade ‘D’.
