About this Course
This course is designed for Spatial Design executives/designers looking to specialize in planning, designing, fabricating, and installing interpretive exhibitions that encourage visitor's understanding, participation, and emotional engagement. The acquired skills will allow the participants to develop a competitive edge in related industries through a confident approach to exhibition design.
The program focuses on the design of three-dimensional communicative environments that sell a product or communicate a message of the exhibitor. Participants will learn how to manipulate space and structure, design graphics, storyboard multimedia and theatrical presentations to make it accessible to the required audience.
Participants will acquire the necessary skills through a hands-on design experience of a project. The design project will allow the participant to integrate theory, professional studies, technology and skills with design to promote creativity, innovation and educational curiosity. The core of the programme is its studio-based culture where students undertake project-based creative work involving a range of drawing, modelling, written and computer aided design skills to a high standard.
The objective of the project is to allow the student an opportunity to demonstrate the critical thinking ability with regards to building design requirement, the safety requirements, design functional, and aesthetic requirement in the exhibition space. In addition, team development, presentation of an exhibition design proposal, and layout of a showcase with an interactive element will provide participants with opportunities to build exhibition planning and design skills.
Particular emphasis is given to underlying design approaches, philosophies, constraints, influences and areas of innovation.
Aim of the Course
To develop exhibition concepts and integrate graphic design within exacting spatial configurations and other considerations to produce effective exhibitions.
Students will learn how to incorporate graphics, projection, lighting and sound, among others, to deliver a coherent and integrated solution that collectively meets the objective(s) of the exhibitor.
The main focus is on the role of the exhibition designer to impart information, create atmosphere for effective merchandising, elevate consumer awareness, and create and express specific product identity.
