About this Course

Have you ever thought about how a fashion apparel collection is conceptualized and produced? If you have aspirations to be a part of the fashion industry, then this course is for you!

This course will equip you with the essential skills to turn clothes into wearable women’s wear, menswear and children’s wear. You will also learn about fashion illustration, textiles fundamentals and 3D draping creation.

Progression Opportunities

Nitec in Fashion Apparel Production & Design graduates with good results may apply for progression to the first year of a related diploma course at the Polytechnics. 

Nitec in Fashion Apparel Production & Design graduates with a GPA of 2.8 and above may also apply for progression to related Higher Nitec courses offered by ITE.

Career Prospects

Nitec in Fashion Apparel Production & Design graduates are employed in fashion houses, department stores and apparel manufacturers.  Graduates can pursue careers in the areas of sample creation, apparel production, merchandising, retail and fashion design. Some of the job titles held by graduates include Prototype Maker, Pattern Maker, Sample Sewer and CAD Drafter & Grader..

There are excellent opportunities for career advancement to supervisory positions and beyond. This challenge is for students to upgrade their technical skills and knowledge by taking up higher-level courses.

Entry Requirements

To apply for the Nitec in Fashion Apparel Production & Design course, you need to have:

GCE ‘O’ level grades in any 2 subjects

Or

GCE ‘N’ level passes in Mathematics or Science and 2 other subjects

*Note: 

Applicants applying for this course must ensure that they do not suffer from colour appreciation deficiency on admission

Applicants applying for this course must attend an interview and pass a drawing/sewing test for admission.

Applicants must be free from severe visual/audio impairment.

Successful students will be required to purchase training materials which will cost about $1,000 for the 2-year course.  This is in addition to the course fees.  Students can keep their materials at the end of the course.
