About this Course

This unit addresses the skills and knowledge required to support organisation members in the identification and management of health and safety issues in the workplace. It covers the provision of information and training and the promotion and support of health and safety programmes.

1. Identify and control hazards in the workplace

• Support appropriate personnel to identify hazards in the workplace
• Support appropriate personnel to control hazards to reduce risk level, probability or severity of occurrence
• Develop and implement procedures for dealing with emergency situations
• Manage appropriate records of hazards and associated control strategies

2.Support workplace health and safety framework

• Provide information on health and safety to appropriate personnel to ensure the health and safety of workforce
• Coordinate employee training to develop competencies that support workplace health and safety
• Support employees in the acquisition or maintenance of resources to support compliance activities

3. Promote workplace health and safety programmes

• Promote workplace health and safety activities to employees to ensure uptake
• Identify relevant personnel that require specific information and assistance about health and safety
• Communicate health and safety information at an appropriate time, level and place
