This unit addresses the skills and knowledge required to address risks, crisis and other contingency situations affecting the people management/human capital of an organisation. It covers the identification of risk and the preparation and monitoring of mitigation plans

1. Identify sources of risk

  • Access tools to support the identification of risks
  • Develop assessment criteria for measuring the level of potential or existing  risk
  • Identify risks within established risk management processes
  • Document risks in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and  legislation

2. Prepare risk mitigation plans

  • Prioritise risks based on the assessment and rating of the impact and likelihood
  • Document risk analysis for contribution to the development of risk mitigation plans
  • Determine appropriate risk mitigation plans to address identified risks and contingencies
  • Communicate to employees their roles and responsibilities in implementing risk mitigation plans

3. Monitor and report on effectiveness of risk controls and contingency plans

  • Develop processes and systems for gathering measurement data and  feedback
  • Analyse measurement data and feedback to establish performance against  required criteria
  • Review best practices in risk management to identify potential improvements
  • Recommend refinements or modifications to risk controls and contingency  plans
