About this Course

This course is meant for shippers, freight forwarders and airline personnel who require to transport radioactive materials and who have no knowledge of dangerous goods handling and transportation by air.

Objectives

  • Participants will be made fully aware of the legislation applicable to IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and the ICAO Technical Instructions for shipping of radioactive materials by air. At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
  • complete and check dangerous goods documentation in accordance with lATA DGR and ICAO T.I.
  • identify, classify, pack, mark and label radioactive materials to lATA and ICAO standards
  • offer consignments of radioactive materials ready for transport to the operators
  • apply emergency procedures for dealing with radioactive materials incidents

  • General usage of the lATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and the ICAO Technical Instructions
  • Use of alphabetical and numerical listings
  • State and operator variations
  • Excepted dangerous goods
  • Airline acceptance procedures
  • Emergency procedures for damaged packages
  • Identification, classification, packing, marking, labelling and documentation of radioactive materials
  • Acceptance of radioactive shipments by airlines

Duration : 2 days course

Timing : 9am to 6pm

*Note : A proficiency test will be held on the last day of the course

Upon passing the test, each participant will receive a certificate which is valid for two years and recognised by IATA.
