About this Course

The Fundamental Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education is designed for individuals who aspire to be an assistant teacher with basic knowledge and skills in the care and supervision of young children.  

The course is structured to enable individuals to play a nurturing and supporting role in the development of young children in a preschool setting. 

The programme is to prepare students to fulfil roles as assistant teachers and care providers in Early Childhood Care and Education.

Entry Requirement

Completed at least Secondary 2 Education or its equivalent

Mode of Instruction

Presentation of lessons will be done through lectures, small group activities and group/individual class presentations.

Assessment Mode

A combination of assignments, observations, projects, group presentation, individual presentations, journals, essay and class tests will be held.

On acceptance into the course, you will receive a course manual and the necessary reading materials.

Awards

In order to obtain the Certificate, students have to successfully:

• Complete 120 hours of theory (attain a minimum attendance of 80 %)
  
• Complete 60 hours of supervised teaching practicum
  
• complete all assignments
