Conflict Management & Resolution

About this Course

Conflict, like change, will always occur given the dynamics of human interactions. Why is this? Because we all have different interests, goals, perceptions, viewpoints, values and experiences. The paradox of conflict is that it is both the force that can tear relationships apart and the force that binds them together, meaning that they can be either healthy (constructive) or unhealthy (destructive). This dual nature of conflict makes it an important concept to study and understand. Conflict management involves acquiring skills related to conflict resolution, self-awareness about conflict modes, conflict communication skills, and establishing a structure for management of conflict in your environment. Every person faces conflict. There are positive and negative outcomes to conflict. What makes conflict negative or positive is the way in which it is handled. This course teaches participants how to manage emotions during conflict while working collaboratively toward a win/win resolution. Participants will complete a conflict style assessment, learn the five styles of conflict, and identify their dominant style.
