About this Course
When it comes to marketing sports, challenges should be presented every day to keep sports organization employees excited over fresh and unique opportunities. Marketing sports is a competitive business. To succeed, the front office needs as much energy, discipline, and strategy as players and coaches need. And it needs to take risks.
To make sure the right risks are taken, understanding is needed for the interplay of media, teams, fans, equipment companies, and others in the sports industry, on every level.
COURSE GOALS
This course introduces an in-depth study of marketing and the influence it has in accomplishing objectives in today's world of sport. The topics focused include advertising, promotions, public relations, location, pricing, sponsorship, licensing, market segmentation and role of research.
After completing the course, students should be able to:
- Identify the special nature of sports marketing
- Analyze the nature and attitudes of sport consumers and employ general marketing management in sports
- Conduct market research and application of market segmentation in sports and sports product
- Identify the advantages of licensed and branded merchandise in sports marketing
- Apply methods in setting pricing to sports products
- Apply promotion strategies with/for the sport product
- Explain and apply methods of sales management
- Understand the importance of gain through promotional licensing and sponsorship
- Explain methods used in product distribution (place)
- Understand the role of public relations and electronic media in marketing sports products
- Explain the necessary coordination of “the 5Ps” and coordinating of this “marketing mix”
- Understand the legal aspects of sports marketing including liability, intellectual property, and risk management.
AWARD
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded:
Certificate in Sports Marketing by the United States Sports Academy, ‘America’s Sports University”.
COURSE DURATION
The course may be completed in 8weeks (40 hours) .
Assessment Methods
Students will sit for a written examination at the end of each module.
