About this Course

KBA Training (KBAT) is pleased to host an upcoming 'Assessor Skills' that is conducted by MTCS Services (Asia Pacific) Ltd. The training will be held in Singapore whereby MTCS will be utilising KBAT classroom and training facility. This expands our Commercial Diving portfolio for competency development training

MTCS Ltd is a fully accredited training centre and their courses meet the industry requirements as laid down by the trade association IMCA. MTCS offers a number of training courses for supervisory personnel in leadership, instruction techniques and formal assessment skills. Many personnel are promoted into supervisors positions on the basis of time served and technical ability, without any consideration for their team management skills -  this course is specifically designed to introduce the delegate to the concepts of team leadership as required in Offshore Industry.

COURSE OVERVIEW

The 2-day assessor training course is designed to provide senior offshore personnel with the skills required to assess competence in the workplace. The course adheres to the criteria developed by IMCA.

MTCS Ltd is an approved assessment centre by EAL and candidates are therefore eligible for nationally recognised external assessment qualifications.

  • A route to a formal qualification in skills assessment for your personnel (A1, A2 qualification)
  • The ability for your organisations senior offshore/onshore personnel to assess competence in the field in line with IMCA requirements

The Assessor has a vital role in the implementation of competence and it is recommended that at least one senior member of the offshore team is qualified in this discipline.

Courses may be run either at our training facilities or at client’s premises. We periodically run open assessor courses for individuals

COURSE MODULES

The course includes the following modules:

  • Overview of competence management documentation
  • Assessment planning
  • Assessment skills
  • Collecting and judging evidence
  • Making assessment decisions
  • Providing feedback
  • Assessment

On completion of the course, candidates will be required to conduct three assessments in the workplace over a range of activities. Details of these assessments will be included in a Portfolio of Evidence that will be submitted to MTCS for verification within a six month period of course completion.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates must be actively working in a senior/supervisory role and ideally have some experience of appraisal systems as operated by their employer.
  • Understand the practice and principles of assessment (EAL).
  • The ability for your organisations senior offshore/onshore personnel to assess competence in the field in line with IMCA requirements.
  • The opportunity for personnel to gain an insight into how competence management is implemented offshore.

The assessor has a vital role in the implementation of competence, and it is strongly recommended that at least one senior member of the offshore team is qualified in this discipline. Courses may be run either at our training facilities or at client premises. We periodically run open assessor courses for individuals.

CERTIFICATION

Successful candidates may be awarded the formal external qualification through EAL entitled Maritime Skills Assessor. Alternatively candidates may opt for the Industry Equivalent (IE) qualification.

FURTHER DEVELOPMENT

Candidates will be registered into the MTCS. Competence Management Scheme which allows progression through the IMCA grading system (see competence management). This course can be adapted for offshore contracting companies and focus on ROV, Diving, Marine, Hydrographic Survey disciplines.
