This course aims to to enable learners to Supervise Workplace Safety & Health in Marine Industry based on a set of competency elements, which includes:

  • Comply with workplace safety and health legislations, guidelines and code of practice and provide inputs for risk assessment
  • Identify hazards and control measures
  • Comply with safety and health management system
  • Implement a permit-to-work system
  • Conduct safety and health inspection
  • Conduct incident investigation

Chargemen / Foreman / WSH Coordinator / WSH Supervisor or any person assigned to a supervisory role in the marine industry

Course Content

  • Explain and interpret salient WSH legislations and other requirements relevant to the marine industry
  • Describe the WSH duties and responsibilities of a supervisor in marine industry
  • Conduct a briefing on shipyard general safety and explain the Vessel Safety Coordination Committee (VSCC) and Permit-to-Work (PTW) procedure to shipyard workers and contractors
  • Identify WSH hazards, evaluate and control risks in marine industry in accordance with risk management process
  • Carry out WSH inspections in accordance with organizational inspection procedure
  • Conduct incident investigation and prepare report in accordance with legal and other organizational requirements

A Statement of Attainment (SOA) will be awarded upon completion of each unit.

Pre-requisites
