About this Course
This course aims to to enable learners to Supervise Workplace Safety & Health in Marine Industry based on a set of competency elements, which includes:
- Comply with workplace safety and health legislations, guidelines and code of practice and provide inputs for risk assessment
- Identify hazards and control measures
- Comply with safety and health management system
- Implement a permit-to-work system
- Conduct safety and health inspection
- Conduct incident investigation

Chargemen / Foreman / WSH Coordinator / WSH Supervisor or any person assigned to a supervisory role in the marine industry
Course Content
- Explain and interpret salient WSH legislations and other requirements relevant to the marine industry
- Describe the WSH duties and responsibilities of a supervisor in marine industry
- Conduct a briefing on shipyard general safety and explain the Vessel Safety Coordination Committee (VSCC) and Permit-to-Work (PTW) procedure to shipyard workers and contractors
- Identify WSH hazards, evaluate and control risks in marine industry in accordance with risk management process
- Carry out WSH inspections in accordance with organizational inspection procedure
- Conduct incident investigation and prepare report in accordance with legal and other organizational requirements
