Legal Requirement 

This course would be appropriate for individuals assigned as Signalman in the workplace.

Course Objective 

1. Describe the legislative requirements for safe lifting operation 

2. List the duties of the signalman in lifting operation 

3. Comply with safe work procedure for lifting 

4. Set up communications for safe lifting' 

5. Check serviceability of communications equipment 

6. Apply 3-step lifting and lowering method to ensure safe lifting operation 

7. Check for blind spots and estimate clearance of swing path 

8. Communicate lifting instructions using standard hand & voice signals 

9. Practise good house-keeping of communication equipment 

10. Identify hazards related to lifting 

11. Respond to lifting accident and emergencies 

Assumed Skills and Knowledge 

Trainees are expected to have at least attained Workplace Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 or equivalent A minimum of 6 months of relevant industrial experience
