About this Course

The course is designed for participants to learn how to use the properties of light and the orientation of a space to renovate a residential project. Participants are also trained on the properties of various forms of artificial light, and the technical and aesthetic possibilities of ambient, decorative and task lighting.

They will also understand how light affects colours, fabrics, surfaces and many of the design decisions one needs to make in order to achieve a successful interior. In addition, participants will learn how to prepare their ideas and communicate effectively with suppliers, builders and electricians.

Aim of the Course

To provide the basic knowledge, skills and understanding required for a participant to apply the basic knowledge of lighting design into an interior design solution.

Learning Objectives

Participants who successfully complete the program will be able to:

  • Understand the different types of lighting, their directional purposes and effect to the ambience of an interior space.
  • Select electrical fittings suited to the design requirements of a self-identified residential interior.
  • Generate reflected ceiling and effectively select suppliers.
