Fundamentals of Marketing

To enable participants to acquire sufficient knowledge of marketing principles, blending theories learnt into a practical framework of ‘How Marketing Actually Works’ especially in the rapidly evolving world of marketing.

Introduction to New Media Studies

This module aims to develop an overview and understanding of the new media landscape and the new media tools. Participants will understand the role of new media in contemporary mass communication, entertainment, education and marketing, as well as the ethical challenges of new media, its role in globalisation, its future and career path.

Media Studies

This module investigates the current trends of mass media in Singapore i.e. broadcast / radio, television, magazines and movies. How do these modes of mass communication function and what is its impact on the local society? This module would also introduce the learner to various technical terms in media studies and equip each student with the ability to choose, understand, question, evaluate and respond thoughtfully to the various mass media we consume.

Communication Skills

To equip students with knowledge and skills of good communications. To sharpen the writing and oral skills of the students to increase their proficiency in articulation.

Advertising & Promotional Management

This module will embrace an entire range of activities: creative, agency work, media and the key role of communication. It will also take A&P management participants inside an effective advertisement campaign. The range of communications options available to an organisation is wide and in recent years has increased.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be of age 16 and above and meet at least one of the following requirements:

3 GCE 'O' Level credits

    OR

Full GCE 'N' Level with grade 1-5 in English

    OR

ITE NITEC, COS, NTC holder

Additional Criteria:

Those without a C6 credit in English (EL1) at GCE 'O' Level or Grade 1-5 in English at GCE 'N' Level will be required to:

  • Achieve a minimum of band 5.5 (with no sub-band less than 5.0) in IELTS (International English Language Testing System); or
  • Score a minimum of 196 points (computer-based), 69-70 points (internet-based) or 525 points (paper-based) in TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language); or
  • Applicants may be exempted from IELTS if they have completed at least two years and graduated from a government accredited high school where English is the primary language of instruction. A letter of verification from the school is required for admission consideration.
