Post-Diploma Certificate in Perioperative Nursing Practice and Management Module Synopsis Healthcare Management This module aims to provide participants with an understanding of the impact of the economic, political and social issues on the Singapore health system and its management. The participants will be able to explore and develop strategies in management within the healthcare setting particularly with the management of nursing personnel. Psychosocial Issues & Counseling This module focuses on skills required for counselling. It equips participants with therapeutic communication skills that can be effectively put to use in working as a member of multidisciplinary team in an operating theatre. The students will understand the psychological needs of patients who are experiencing surgical or related interventions. Nursing Research This module equips students with a range of theoretical and practical aspects of research. This includes proposal writing, research critique and understanding the use of statistics in research. Emphasis on Evidence-based Practice will enhance awareness in promoting optimal care in critical care setting. Health Assessment This module aims to provide participants with an understanding and comprehensive foundation on the principles of health assessment in nursing practice. It will also provide an introduction to the skills necessary to obtain data through health history, physical examination together with identifying relevant laboratory data and monitoring adjuncts. Medical Legal and Ethics This module provides knowledge on legal and medical issues in nursing. Participants will discuss the legal and ethical issues surrounding their nursing practice.
