About this Course

Quality Management (39 hrs) This module enhances participants’ understanding of the increasing emphasis on quality management in the healthcare environment. Participants will be given opportunity to learn the philosophy, knowledge and skills of continuous quality improvement, teamwork and interdisciplinary work. They will explore strategies to manage resource and services more effectively without compromising quality care. Information Management and Technology (39 hrs) Information technology has had a pervasive influence on the way organisations work, including organisations in the healthcare industry. The application of computer technology in healthcare and nursing will be explored. This module provides an understanding of the rapid changes the Internet and relatedMGT14 4 technologies have brought about to manage healthcare organisations better. Special consideration will be given to the clinical and administrative applications of information technology. Research and Evidence-Based Practice (60 hrs) This module aims to develop a critical and evaluative approach to research utilising a range of different approaches and methods. It seeks to foster and develop in students the ability to critically appraise studies as well as to plan a specific piece of research. The module places equal emphasis on qualitative and quantitative research traditions. Management Project (60 hrs) This module provides the participants with the opportunity to better understand organizational structure and behaviours by undertaking a management project. The on-the-job project will also encourage participants to reflect on the required management knowledge and skills to take up the challenges faced by staff in their management roles and responsibilities.
