About this Course

Advanced Mental Health Nursing 1 (75 hrs) This module enables the students to assess, identify and evaluate major mental health problems across the lifecycle. The students will develop effective nursing interventions in assisting the client and family to implement adaptive coping strategies. Advanced Mental Health Nursing 2 (90 hrs) This module is designed to give learners an understanding of the development of mental health nursing knowledge and practice. It will also examine the contemporary issues in mental health nursing in addition to providing learners with the theoretical knowledge to develop analytical skills in community mental health nursing. This module will also examine the nurses' role and responsibility in nursing the persistently and severely mentally ill client and their family and in psychiatric rehabilitation. Learners will also apply the process of advance care planning and care transition in mental health nursing. Additionally, learners will develop advanced skills in counseling and in dealing with group processes.
