About this Course

Advanced Medical-Surgical Nursing 1 (105 hrs) This module focuses on assessment and identification of essential nursing care relevant for clients in the medical-surgical settings. It covers the management of pain, incontinence and wounds as well as clients requiring special care in the surgical and medical high dependency, oncology, gerontology and chronic diseases. Learners will also apply the process of advance care planning and care transition in medical-surgical nursing. Advanced Medical-Surgical Nursing 2 (60 hrs) This module enables students to embrace an integrated approach to clinical reasoning and analytical skills to recognise and evaluate medical-surgical patients experiencing complex pathophysiological disturbances of mainly the cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, musculoskeletal, renal and gastrointestinal functions. Underpinning it are concepts, in-depth pharmacological component, advanced acute care technology and monitoring devices used to provide an effective, safe and quality care to patients experiencing potentially life threatening illness, injury or surgery in the general ward and high dependency settings.
