About this Course

Advanced Gerontological Nursing 1 (90 hrs) This module will focus on the health challenges encountered by the older adults and their relation to multi-pathological disease process. Emphasis will be given to the expansion of knowledge and skills in maintaining and improving the quality of life of GR11 the older adults holistically, in institutional and community settings. The knowledge will enhance the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the nursing care and allied provisions. Advanced Gerontological Nursing 2 (75 hrs) This module is designed to explore the concept of continuity and continuing care and its association with care of the older adults in an affluent society. Learners will apply the process of advance care planning, care transition and intermediate and long-term care in gerontology nursing. The principles of rehabilitation will also be introduced and learners will expand their knowledge and skills in the physical, cognitive and social rehabilitation process of the older adults; with multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary involvement.
