About this Course

The Enterprise Business Analysis (EBA) scope of work requires strategic, process and organization consulting skills. It has become increasingly critical for IT professionals to learn, internalize and practice these skills in their daily work to contribute to their organization’s survival and growth. Key activities in EBA include identifying business opportunities, surfacing issues, recommending solution alternatives, conducting feasibility studies and preparing the business case for approval. This course equips IT professionals, in particular business analysts, with the knowledge, skills, techniques and tools to understand their organisation’s goals, challenges and environment so as to be able to develop viable and impactful solutions for their business. It aims to provide the core foundation and practical approaches to perform EBA in today’s increasing complex business world. Students will learn an approach for identifying business opportunities, in particular e-business solutions, determining enterprise level business problems and issues, and defining solution options that enhance strategic value. In addition, participants will be taught how to evaluate the feasibility of solution options surfaced so as to build and present a strong business case. Workshops, class discussions and exercises as well as best practices will be used to reinforce the students’ understanding and practice of the concepts and techniques introduced in the course. Enterprise analysis is a key knowledge area in the practice of business analysis. This course takes into consideration one of the knowledge areas identified by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA). At the end of the course students will gain the following skills: • Understand and analyse their organisation’s business, the industry and environment in which it operates; • Identify problems and issues; • Identify and develop innovative business opportunities; • Develop alternative solutions, evaluate and recommend the most feasible solution; and • Develop and present the business case for the proposed solution.
