Data Governance refers to the operating disciplines for managing data and information as a key enterprise asset. This operating discipline includes organization, processes and tools for establishing and exercising decisions rights regarding valuation and management of data. Key aspects of data governance include decision making authority, compliance, monitoring, policies , standards, data inventories, full life cycle data management, content management, records management, preservation , data quality, data classification, data security and access. The 3-day program on Data Governance & Protection covers Policy on Data Management, Data Quality Principles, Principles of Data Sharing, Naming Standards, Protection of Personal Data and guides to Privacy Impact Assessment. Upon completion of the course, participants would be able to - Set direction and objectives of data governance throughout the organization based on organisation’s data management principles and organizational objectives - Review and develop process on how data governance objectives can be achieved - Define and document roles and responsibilities of the data governance team and of user department in the guidelines - Communicate the data governance guidelines to relevant parties within the organisation - Establish and maintain system to check compliance against data governance guidelines - Assess if data in system are in line with data governance guidelines - Monitor compliance and progress to data governance initiatives - Recommend corrective actions to resolve any data governance issues - Undertake and document corrective action to resolve data governance issues - Review and update data governance guidelines where necessary
