About this Course

This unit addresses the skills and knowledge required to manage budgets and finances within a people management/human capital environment. It covers budget creation, monitoring and the reporting of outcomes.

Module Design

1. Create budgets for human resource functions

• Access implementation plans to identify financial implications of resourcing requirements
• Access departmental budgets or projections to identify financial allocations information
• Develop human resource budget and communicate details to appropriate employees

2. Produce reports from human resource information systems

• Develop processes to monitor and control expenditure and variances
• Monitor expenditure against budget requirements and analyse variances
• Take remedial action against any variances to minimise impact or maximise opportunity
• Provide training for users of the budget to ensure activities are controlled

3. Report on outcomes of budgets and financial plans

• Use recording and documentation systems that meet audit requirements and legal obligations
• Produce accurate financial reports indicating actual versus budgeted figures
• Report any non-financial achievements in context of overall organisational performance
• Review and update future financial plans to optimise departmental performance
