About this Course

Program Introduction

The ATHE Level 5 Extended Diploma is a 120 credit size qualification, equivalent in size and level to the second year of a bachelor’s degree. Travel and Tourism is the fastest growing industry in the world, (partly due to the increase of international globalisation and business travel) and these qualifications are in response to the escalating demand for management skills in the service sector.The travel and tourism sector comprises many different industries and sub-industries, including tourism services such as retail travel, hotels, and tour operators, resort management, passenger transport operations, customer service representative in airlines, visitor attractions such as museums, theme parks, zoos and heritage sites and in event tourism activities.

What ATHE qualifications provide for learners

Continuous assessment so that learners complete their studies progressively without the need for final examinations.

Internationally recognised qualifications which are on the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) for England, Wales and Northern Ireland and aligned to other international frameworks worldwide.

All ATHE qualifications have progression routes to degrees at ATHE University partners.

Progression Path

ATHE Level 5 Extended Diploma is equivalent to second year of a bachelor degree. Graduates may proceed for admission to approved top-up university degree programs with ATHE University Partners, via On-campus study or Online Study.

Or consult ASAS who also has a transfer agreement with Adams State University, USA for their various Bachelor Degree programs. 

Structure and Duration

8 Modules

Minimum 12 months, Part-time

2 evenings per week, 6:45pm – 9:15pm

Assessment Methods

Direct assessment is based on written assignment includes Essays, Case Studies, Critical Reviews and Research Papers.

Achieve a minimum 120 credits and earn a Pass in each subject. 

Program Subjects

Students must complete all 8 subjects.

Be at least 19 years of ageMinimum entry requirement is for Higher NITEC / A Level / Diploma holders
