Lean Management

About this Course

Today’s world-class companies have been successful in eliminating process inefficiencies and streamlining management hierarchies to cut costs, improve quality and become more responsive to customers. It’s more important than ever to increase organisational effectiveness through the engagement of people, the elimination of waste and the cultivation of innovative teams who are constantly striving to improve. These are all part of a management concept known as Lean Enterprise.

The aim of this course is to go through the entire Lean Enterprise model, to reinforce critical concepts and implementation methods. By the end of the course, participants will have a solid base of knowledge of Lean Enterprise Management and how to build the right behaviours in their organisation to increase business performance.

This course is aimed at team leaders, middle managers and senior leadership, adding a significant new management philosophy to their leadership toolkit.

Introduction

Participants will be provided a brief introduction of Lean:  the history, basic concepts and its journey
through multiple industries and applications.

The lean enterprise model

Participants will be introduced to the Lean Enterprise  model, which consists of (5) essential components
that are critical to the achievement of organisational excellence.  Each of the components will be covered
in sufficient detail so that the concepts are well understood, with exercises utilised to institutionalise
the learning.

Value stream management

Value Stream Mapping is a key tool in the Lean toolkit to achieve fundamental and significant results.  This section will cover basic Value Stream Mapping so that leaders will understand when to apply it, but also will add the advanced topic of Value Stream Management, a method of managing the business from a horizontal,  Customer-orientated perspective, which optimises the performance of the entire business.

Lean leadership

While many training courses, books and articles focus on Leadership skills, Lean Leadership is an additional
set of leadership competencies and skill sets that build upon the traditional body of leadership literature to form a ‘next level’ baseline for leadership excellence.  Leaders will be able to learn new competencies that they can then apply directly to their workplace.

Lean implementation guidance

Participants will be exposed to positive and negative lean implementation methods, so that they will learn
good practices to apply when embarking or re-energising their own lean efforts.  Case Studies will be utilised to demonstrate various approached to lean implementation in multiple industries.

Course Durations: 2days

Quick Tip

Lean is primary about culture and management concepts. Therefore, the key to achieving excellent results with Lean is to institutionalise it into the DNA of the entire enterprise, not to just teach a few tools in some isolated areas.
