About this Course

COURSE DESCRIPTION

  • To have the fundamental knowledge of Anatomy & Physiology
  • To understand the appropriate legislation applicable to facial treatments to provide correct consultation method and how the programme will be evaluated and review process
  • To recognize common skin problems, skin disease and disorders and contraindications to facial treatments
  • To provide client handling technique, how to give proper advice to clients after treatment and home care
  • To enable students to perform Beauty Service in the salon

RECOGNITION

Upon successful completion, graduates of this programme can be allocated to salons to work as Facial Therapist, Nail Technician, Waxing Therapist and many more.

CASE STUDIES

Candidates are required to have 4 different case studies.

Course Syllabus

Course Syllabus consist of 2 parts- Theory & Practical:

1. Skin & Eye Treatment

  • Contraindication to facial treatments with reasons
  • Superficial cleansing and toning
  • Pre-heat treatments
  • Deep cleansing
  • Skin analysis
  • Design record card for client and update accurately, communication with client tactfully and accurately
  • Eyebrows & eyelashes
  • Facial hair bleaching-benefits of bleaching, method of application
  • Eyebrow tweezing
  • Facial massage
  • Cosmetic science-cream, mask, natural ingredients
  • Mask-types of mask, ingredients of mask, effects of mask, application and removal of mask
  • Handling of clients, after treatment advice and home care recommendation

Course Structure & Duration

The course can be taken within a minimum period of 3 months for Full Time and 9 Months for Part Time.

Full Time: 3 Months (300 hours)

Monday - Friday : 10.30am–5.30pm

Part Time: 9 Months (300 hours)

Tuesday,Wednesday,Thursday 7pm-10pm

Assessment and Examination

At the commencement of each module, students will be provided the assessment mode and weightings for the module.

Most modules have several points of assessment, which may include assignments, tests and final examinations.

Examination: 

  • Skincare & Eye Treatment – Theory 1hr, Practical 1hr
  • Makeup- Theory 1hr, Practical 1/2hr
  • Manicure & Pedicure – Theory 1hr, Practical 1/2hr
  • Waxing – Theory 1hr, Practical 1/2hr
  • Business Awareness & Professional Conduct – Theory 1hr

Case Studies:

  • Skincare & Eye Treatment -5 clients, once each including the practical treatment and written presentation
  • Makeup- 5 clients, once each including the practical treatment and written presentation
  • Manicure & Pedicure – 5 clients, once each including the practical treatment and written presentation
  • Waxing- 5 clients, once each including the practical treatment and written presentation

Entry Requirements

  • The minimum entry requirements are: 
  • At least 16 years old and above 
  • Secondary level or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in English or Chinese

Graduation Requirements

Candidates must achieve the following requirements in order to graduate from the course:

  • · Must attend all lessons with minimum 100% attendance
  • · Must complete all portfolio evidence on the date given before examination
  • · Must score minimum of 60% in all theory and practical units

Students who successfully complete the examination will be awarded with the (ITEC) Level 2 Diploma by International Therapy Examination Council, UK.
