About this Course

The objective of the foundation programme is to offer students an alternative pathway to tertiary education. It will serve to bridge the differences in skill and knowledge set for potential students with different educational background.

Objectives and Expected Outcomes

On successfully completion of the programme, the student would have acquired:

  • Basic IT skills for use in communication, project and business related
  • More versatile in applying the acquired Numerical and Mathematical skill
  • Raise student learning capability and a proficient thinker to meet the requirements for higher education

Course Syllabus/Content: (Module Descriptors)

Mathematics

This module aims to provide students with basic mathematical knowledge at the secondary level, enabling them to acquire the necessary mathematical concepts and skills. Students will develop the necessary knowledge and skills in recognizing graphical representation, interpreting them and make decisions in both business and everyday life.

Computer Applications

This module is designed to enable students to understand how computers work within the business environment. Students will gain knowledge in computer hardware and software, thus enable students to use appropriate graphics and chart and do simple presentation.

Learning Skills

This module equips students with the essential skills required for successful learning in problem solving, study skills and stress management. It enables students to understand the different learning styles, identify their preferred learning styles and develop their thinking skills

Critical Thinking

This module provides a fundamental skill for students to analyze, interpret and evaluate the information gathered for effective decision making. Students will learn to identify problem, thus generate the possible course of action and select the best solution. It will help students not only for academic purposes but also for personal growth

Assessment

  • Written Examination
  • Each unit will be assessed via a three examination, set and marked by ICASTEC. 

Eligibility for Graduation

Students can be conferred the award when the following requirements are met:

50% pass marks for all module examination

Certification

Students who have completed and passed all the required modules will be awarded

Foundation Certificate in Higher Learning

Progression Path 

Graduates can pursue any of our Diploma programmes upon successfully completion of the programme

Entry Requirements 

  • GCE 'N' Level or Equivalent
  • Matured Candidates who is above 18 years old with atleast 2 years working experience.

Course Duration / Mode of Delivery

(Total 3 Months)

3 months of day class Institutional Studies delivered via;

  • Theory lectures
  • Monday to Friday (5 hours per day)
