About this Course

Course Description

This course shows how Flash designers can incorporate ActionScript code into their projects and create interactive presentations and applications. It starts with a review of ActionScript language basics and then progress to object-oriented programming (OOP) methodology.

Participants will also learn on how using code hinting can help ease the burden of coding and saving codes for reusability by using the Code Snippets panel.


INTRODUCTION TO ACTIONSCRIPT 3.0

  • Understanding ActionScript 3.0 elements
  • Learning programming good habits
  • Appreciating on commenting codes
  • Storing values using variables
  • Understanding importance of calling functions
  • Understanding on Listener-based objects with event modelling
  • Utilizing common properties used with ActionScript
  • Checking on syntactical errors using Trace statements
  • Creating repetitive actions using ENTER_FRAME event
  • Using keyboard to create movements on objects
  • Storing codes in Code Snippets panel for reusability

GETTING FAMILIAR IN ACTIONSCRIPT 3.0

  • Working with conditional statements
  • Having compound statements using or/ and commands
  • Appreciating using Tween class to animate
  • Learning on the different aspects of Tween events
  • Using the For command to create a loop

WORKING WITH CLASSES

  • Creating customised classes
  • Preparing a class to be connected to a symbol
  • Understanding packages
  • Setting a Document Class

BUILDING A DRAG & DROP GAME

  • Learning on the startDrag and stopDrag command
  • Collision detection using Actionscript
  • Computing scores in the game
  • Resolving programmatic problems using flags

WORKING WITH TIMELINES

  • Using common timeline navigation methods
  • Using currentFrame and totalFrames properties
  • Solving problems when timelines and Actionscript animation collide
  • Linking buttons to external sites
