About this Course

KBA Training (KBAT) is pleased to host an upcoming Fibre Optic Training that is conducted by MTCS Services (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd. The training will be held in Singapore whereby MTCS will be utilising KBAT classroom and training facility. This expands our Commercial Diving portfolio for competency development training

MTCS Ltd is a fully accredited training centre and their courses meet the industry requirements as laid down by the trade association IMCA.

The 1 day Fiber Optics Course focused on ROV systems and covers the theoretical principles of fiber optics re-terminating a fiber and testing the system. Training emphasises how losses occur in the system and how they can be prevented.

COURSE MODULES

  • Principles of optical transmission
  • Safety Considerations
  • Overview of Fiber control systems
  • How losses are incurred on an ROV system
  • Loss budgets
  • Fiber test equipment including OTDR
  • Re-terminating a fiber
  • Testing for losses in a system

Assessment is carried out by short written and practical assessment

CERTIFICATION

Successful candidates will be awarded a certificate of ‘Successful Completion of Training in ROV Fibre Systems ’.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates are required to have some technical experience within the offshore industry in either an electrical or mechanical discipline.

DURATION

1 day - 0900 hrs to 1630 hrs (45 minutes lunch break)

FURTHER DEVELOPMENT

Candidates may use the course as evidence to support the MTCS. Certificate of Competence for appropriate technical disciplines within ROV Pilot/Technician and Submersible Engineer (Senior Pilot/Technician) Grade.
