About this Course

This program provides a suitable pathway for students with a lower level Year 12, GCE ‘A’ Level qualifications or its equivalent to a degree course. This program is equivalent to the first 8 subjects of our Bachelor of Information Technology Program.

Students in this course will be given a tailored program within the allocated study period to acquire the necessary skills needed to progress to an undergraduate degree program.

The Diploma of Higher Education (Information Technology) will also provide an exit point for early graduates who wish to undertake advanced skills or paraprofessional work in the industry.

Students are required to complete 8 subjects (24 credit points)

  • Developing Academic Skills (Core)
  • Learning in a Digital Environment (Core)
  • Essential Mathematics
  • Effective Speaking
  • Fundamentals of Problem Solving and Programming
  • Internet Fundamentals
  • Interactive Media and Web Technologies
  • Design Thinking*
  • Games for Business and Gamification* (* Offered in alternate semesters)

Entry Requirements

Lower level Year 12, GCE ‘A’ Level qualifications or its equivalent.

English Requirements

  • IELTS 5.5 (no component lower than 5.0) or
  • Satisfactory completion of JCU Singapore English Language Preparatory Program (ELPP) Level 2, with a minimum score of 75% or ELPP Level 3 with a minimum score of 55%.
  • Students who have successfully completed 2 years of full-time study in English medium may satisfy the English Language Requirement

Pass all eight subjects

Attendance Requirements

International students holding a valid student’s passes are required to attend at least 90% of scheduled classes per month. Failure to attend classes is a breach of the student visa conditions. Being absent from classes for a continuous period of seven days or more, or attendance falling below 90% without valid reasons will result in the student needing to surrender their Student pass for cancellation.

Domestic students must attend at least 75% of the scheduled lecture and tutorial activities to be eligible for assessment.
