About this Course

Course Description

The Diploma in Security Management is designed in accordance to the skill standards set by Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA). This is a competency-based training programme that is targeted towards security management staff who oversees the security operations at several sites or who manages security operations in-house.

The course comprises of 8 modules, incorporates the theoretical and practical aspects to manage security operations in the workplace. At the end of the course, participants will be subjected to a summative assessment to test their competencies on the respective subjects taught. The assessments are based on open book written questions and home written assignments.

Upon completion of the respective modules, participants will be awarded a certificate of attendance and upon successful completion of the assessment; a WSQ Statement of Attainment for the respective modules will be duly awarded by WDA. After successfully completing the required 5 core modules and 3 electives, you will be awarded a WSQ Diploma in Security Management and the related transcript by WDA.

For security practitioners, security consultants, those in charge of building services managing security service providers, security operation managers, executives, Chief Security Officers and Supervisors.  

Learning outcomes:

1. Be able to conduct security survey (3 days – Elective)

2. Be able to manage security operations (5 days – Core)

3. Be able to manage performance of security personnel (2 days – Elective)

4. Be able to develop a security manpower deployment plan (3 days – Elective)

5. Be able to manage security agency within legal framework (6 days – Core)

6. Be able to assess and manage security risk control measures (5 days – Core)

7. Be able to achieve work effectiveness in security environment (2 days – Core)

8. Be able to manage and resolve conflict in security environment (2 days – Core)

Duration: 

May be able to complete within 6 months to a year

Timings: 0830hrs to 1730hrs

Entry requirements: 

GCE ‘N’ level (English) or at least 2 years in security supervision or have completed WSQ Advanced Certificate in Security Supervision (the latter only need to attempt 7 modules instead of 8)
