Course Description

Crisis Management Planner or CM-200 is a 1-day crisis management (CM) course with a 50-Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) based examination following the successful completion of the course. A crisis is a critical event that may impact an organization's profitability, reputation, or ability to operate. Any crisis is almost guaranteed to happen at the most inconvenient time, from the first day of launch of a product to Friday at 4:30 pm. Most people who work with issues that affect the public have received the dreaded telephone call, read a damaging headline, or been surprised by a negative video bite which makes your organization's day a bad horror movie.

CM-200 is available via a one-day (introductory-level) Crisis Management course for participants to guide professional who are appointed with the responsibilities to manage crisis, disaster and an events. The course is an experiential facilitated workshop led by an experienced instructor. It is important to note that CM-200 is a fundalmental course in crisis management and the content emphasized on the principles of crisis management while

the (intermediate-level) CM-300: Crisis Management Implementer will include the introduction of crisis management techniques and tools.

This course is suitable for organisations and agencies who would like to have an overview of what is crisis management. The participants will benefit from the introduction to crisis management and also the relationship between its Business Continuity Management (BCM) and Disaster Recovery (DR) implementation effort. Participants will learn the basic of a crisis management program and the tool/ techniques to help to develop specific crisis management plans. This course has been recommended by past participants to be a practical course that will take the participants through the proper implementation of a crisis management plan.

Certification

Crisis Management Certified Planner (CMCP) Certification is awarded to participants who has successfully completed their CMCP examination.

Participants will emerge with a clear understanding on the expectation of crisis management and its processes. These includes the understanding of the following:

  • Crisis management planning methodology.
  • Composition of the crisis management team members.
  • The risk and threats within an typical organization which includes riots, supply chain disruptions and product recalls.
  • Learn to track and trace incident events and prioritize decisions and activities.
  • Crisis communications and how is relates to the crisis management.
  • The command and control structure for a command center or emergency operations center.
  • The external agencies and local authorities that an organization will need to work with.
  • The test and exercise approaches for a crisis management plan.
  • The link between crisis management and the BCM and DR program.

Examination

This course incorporates a 50-Multiple Choice Question Qualifying Crisis Management Certified Planner (CMCP) electronic exam on the next day. The duration of examination is 1 and 1/2 hour. Candidates who achieve with a passing score of 75% or higher are eligible to apply for the BCM Institute's Crisis Management Certified Planner (CMCP) accreditation. The examination fee is included as part of the course fee.
