About this Course

KBA Training Centre in collaboration with Helix Media — a specialist public and media affairs consultancy, offer a one-day course designed for executives from the maritime and offshore industry who may be called upon to respond clearly, professionally with key messages and updates to the media, authorities, stakeholders, clients, the public and third parties with an interest or concern in the event of a reputational crisis situation.

The objective of this crisis communications training is to enhance understanding of third parties, principally the media and its motivations, and the public at large (expressing itself through social media channels) in time of crisis, and the principles of effective public relations during such a time. There will be a clear understanding of the media’s news-making process, the rules of engagement during interviews and, most importantly on how to convey key messages successfully.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Onshore/Offshore management, Ship owners, Diving company management personnel, Operators, Managers, Marketing & Communication Professionals or anyone who may be called upon to face the media/public.

METHODOLOGY

An intensive and interactive session that starts with a fundamental overview of crisis, skills and strategy tips & training, a predominant focus on an exercise of group role-play (a simulated incident, its management and response and TV interviews staged). A debrief at the end of the group role-play will conclude the session, where vital learning points are highlighted and analysed in detail and in confidence.

The training will incorporate case studies and discussions arising from viewing actual footage of how real crises have transpired and how media and social media were managed (or mismanaged).

Each delegate will be required to complete a brief pre-course questionnaire which will examine his/her current perception of media and the public at large, and views on engaging with same. From this feedback, the training will be tailored accordingly to suit the needs of all participants.

Upon completion, delegates will be awarded with a course certificate.
