About this Course

This course familiarize structural technicians with composite materials and their application on modern transport aircraft. The student will acquire an basic understanding of standard practices for composite repair with reference to the Structure Repair Manual. This course satisfies ATA 104 Level IV objectives Introduction to Composites, Definitions, Applications Fiber Reinforcements, Matrix (resin) systems Handling and storage, Shelf Life/Out Time, Recertification Material and Process Specifications Maufacturing techniques, Design criterias Safety and environment Damage and repair assessment General repairs such as metal foil tape, resin sealing, wet lay-up repair General fastening methods, such as solid-, blind-, hollow-rivets Shop equipment and hand tools, heating devices, measuring devices Health and safety equipment
