About this Course
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The certificate in Nail treatments enables candidates to build the necessary practical and theoretical skills in order to provide basic manicure and pedicure treatments as well as developing the abilities for effective consulation, communication and retail skills. Whilst completing this unit the candidates will also develop their abilities in working with others and problem solving, enabling candidates to develop a range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in employment as a Basic Nail Technician.
RECOGNITION
Upon successful completion, graduates of this programme can be allocated to salons to work as Manicurist.
COURSE STRUCTURE
The course consists of 2 units with a total of 180 contact hours. Courses are delivered face to face.
Course Syllabus
- Follow health and safety practice in the salon
- Client care and communication within beauty related industries
- Promote and sell products and services to clients
- Provide manicure treatment
- Provide pedicure treatment

- 5 Nails Treatments: Luxury Treatment, French polish, Dark polish and 2 other treatments
Course Structure & Duration
The course can be taken within a minimum period of 5 months for Part Time.
Full Time: 2.5 Months (180 hours)
Monday - Friday : 10.30am–5.30pm
Part Time: 5 Months
Tuesday & Wednesday & Thursday: 7.00pm~10.00pm
Commence Date
New intake falls on every 2nd & 4th week of the month.
Assessment and Examination
At the commencement of each module, students will be provided the assessment mode and weightings for the module.
Most modules have several points of assessment, which may include assignments, tests and final examinations.
In-House Examinations: Theory 55 mins (MCQ), Practical 1 hour 30 mins (practical includes 15 mins examiner instructions)
CIBTAC Examinations : Theory 55 mins (MCQ), Practical 1 hour 30 mins (practical includes 15 mins examiner instructions)
Entry Requirements
The minimum entry requirements are:
- At least 16 years old and above
- Secondary level or equivalent.
- Proficiency in English & Chinese
Graduation Requirements
Candidates must achieve the following requirements in order to graduate from the course:
- Must attend all lessons with minimum 100% attendance
- Must complete all portfolio evidence on the date given before examination
- Must score minimum of 60% in all theory and practical units
Students who successfully complete the examination will be awarded with the (CIBTAC) Certificate by Confederation of International Beauty Therapy & Cosmetology, UK.
