About this Course
Certificate in Instrumentation & Control Module Synopsis Industrial Control & Automation This module will train students in the design and wiring of electrical control systems. It covers various motor starters connection and sequential motor control circuits, The module will also introduce students to programmable logic controllers, control devices and relevant window-based programming software. Students will learn the design of ladder diagrams for programming the programmable logic controller for industrial applications. Control System Formulation & Analysis This module introduces students to the fundamentals of feedback control principles. It covers basic concepts of automatic control, control systems hardware, simple analytical tools and stability analysis of systems. An introduction to the use of MATLAB as a computer tool for control system design is also included. Sensors & Instrumentation The aim of this module is to introduce students to the fundamental concepts of measurements, sensors and transducers, signal conditioning and data acquisition. Students will be taught the principles of operations of a variety of sensors and transducers including temperature sensors, strain gauges, voltage and current transducers, and LVDT transducers etc. Signal conditioning circuits using op-amp, Wheatstone bridge and low pass filter will also be included. Students will have the hands-on practice on sensors characterisation, build and test sensor circuits and simple data acquisition using LabVIEW, a virtual instrumentation software.
