About this Course

This course is for students that have no prior training in hairdressing and would like to start as a beginner to gain entry into the industry.

The focus of this course is on the skills of shampoo and blow style, cutting, perming and colouring, combined with knowledge of customer service and salon operations.

Course Structure 

The Certificate in Hairdressing Course comprised of 13 modules:

  • Shampoo & Condition the Hair and Scalp
  • Cut Women's Hair
  • The Art of Dressing Hair
  • Colour and Lighten Hair
  • Client Consultation for Hair Services
  • Follow Health and Safety Practice in the Salon
  • Salon Reception Duties
  • Display Stock to Promote Sales in a Salon
  • Working in the Hair Industry
  • Perm and Neutralize Hair
  • Create an Image based on a Theme within the Hair and Beauty Sector
  • Provide Scalp Massage Services
  • Working with Others in the Hair and Beauty Sector

While on the course, you will take part in practical session working on blocks (mannequin heads) and later on will begin supervised practice with live models in the Classic Practical Area, applying what you have learnt in a fully equipped salon-school environment. Theory lessons that come alongside are conducted in the Lecture room.

Course Intake 

Course commences first Monday of every month.

Course Entry Requirement

Course participants should be at least 16 years old of age and must possess elementary pass in English or Chinese or its equivalent.

Graduation Requirement 

Students are required to meet the following criteria in order to graduate and obtain their relevant certificates:

  • Must complete all 13 modules with at least 80% (90% for International students) in attendance
  • Able to perform 1 internal practical assessment of shampoo, blow, cut and colour on live model
  • Must achieve at least 80% in terms of live model requirement

Progression 

At the end of the course, you will be able to use the knowledge and skill learned to enter the industry as a Junior Stylist or you can choose to progress on to Diploma in Hairdressing and take your place in the industry as a Qualified Stylist.

Course Awards 

Upon meeting all Graduation Requirements, you will graduate with a Certificate in Hairdressing awarded by Kimage Hairdressing School. If you choose to register and pass the ITEC Examination, you will be awarded the ITEC Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing.
