About this Course
The BA (Honours) International Business degree has been designed to combine a comprehensive business education with the opportunity to specialise in international business. As the programme progresses, learning and skills developed through the study of business modules are applied to a wide range of international business issues.
In the final year, students are to undertake both integrative and specialist subjects, and to complete an independent research-based piece of work in international business.
This degree provides a comprehensive business education for students who wish to pursue careers in the global business arena, offering the opportunity to study or work abroad and the option to study foreign languages.
Programme Objective
This programme aims to enable students to:
- Study organisations, their management and the changing external, international environment in which they operate.
- Prepare for a career in international business and management overseas.
- Benefit from an opportunity for international exchange and study abroad.
- Increase written and oral proficiency in a second and/or third language where appropriate.
- Contribute to society at large by enhancing life-long learning skills and personal development.
Examinations & Assessment
This programme involves through a combination of coursework, assignments and projects, presentations and examinations/tests. All modules contain both formative and summative assessment components. Summative assessments for each module may be based on an individual assignment, tutorials, group project and a final written examination.
Tutorials may take a variety of forms depending on the module and include class participation, debates, case studies, reflective essays, learning diaries, management reports, self-assessment and oral presentations. Take home work may also be allocated to students.
Students must fulfill the attendance requirement of at least 90% for each module before they are considered eligible to take the end-of-semester examinations.
Award of Certificate
Students who have completed all necessary course works, successfully passed all required assessments and met all financial obligations to the Institute and University of the West England shall be awarded the BA (Honours) International Business by University of the West of England.
Programme Structure & Curriculum
This 12-month full-time top-up programme covers 5 modules
The programme is offered on both full-time and part-time bases. For the full-time programme, classes are usually held four to six times a week on weekdays.
It is targeted at graduates of the MIS Training Centre Diploma in Business Management and MIS Training Centre Diploma in Sales and Marketing Management programmes. These graduates will be admitted into year three of the Bachelor programme.
