About this Course
Objectives
- The Advanced Diploma in Business Management is specially designed to equip participants with effective managerial skills that are necessary for becoming efficient managers

Marketing Management
Acquire skills in all aspects of marketing management including strategic policy making, planning, implementation and control, so as to manage the challenges evolved in various marketing situations. The course contents include: Role of marketing; Marketing process and marketing plan; Marketing research; Marketing environment analysis; Consumer behaviour; Market segmentation, targeting and positioning; Marketing mix; Market strategies.
Business Economics
An understanding of the basic micro and macro economic concepts and applications in the larger economic environment. The course contents include: The theory of demand, Productivity and costs; The theory of the firm; Unemployment and inflation; The theory of markets; Monetary and fiscal policy; Money and financial institution; Macroeconomic policy and models.
Production and Operations Management
The module will assist students in dealing with the problems involved in production and operations management by focusing on its concepts, ideas and analytical tools involved.
The course contents include: POM overview; Roles of POM manager, The Production / Operation process, The 5 "Ps"; Product design and development; Concurrent engineering process, Industrial engineering techniques; Quality; Benefits of JIT and TQM.
Financial Management
Equip students with relevant knowledge and understanding of financial management issues. Incorporate fundamental accounting and finance concepts in the area of decision making, risk assessment and financial resource management. The course contents include: Cost accounting; Marginal costing and decision making; Risk management in investment decisions; Cost of capital and time value of money; Capital budgeting; Investment appraisal; Working capital management; Financial analysis.
Business Information Systems
To acquaint participants with the skills essential for computer literacy, especially in system control, so as to enable effective management of information system. The course contents include: Hardware system; Basic data communication systems and networks; Effective management information systems; information systems control.
Management of Human Resource & The Practice of Management
Management of Human Resources
- To equip participants with the essential knowledge and skills in the management of human resources in an organisation, and to develop and implement policies and practices to meet the company needs.
The Practice of Management
- To develop an understanding of key managerial concepts, both traditional and “modern” and build knowledge in specific managerial activities. The course contents include: Managerial role in human resource management; Strategy and goals for managing human resources; The structure and scope of human resource management; Human resource development; Management science: theory and practice.
Business Statistics*
This module will equip the participants with skills in data processing and application of statistical methods in business forecasting. The course contents include: Statistical presentation; Probability theory; Sampling distribution and confidence interval; Testing hypotheses concerning the value of the population mean; Simple correlation; Regression analysis; Time series analysis; Index numbers.
Business Law*
This module will provide the participants with an insight into the laws governing business activities. The course contents include: Introduction to law; Contract law; Sales of goods; The law of negligence in business activities; Consumer protection; Legal framework of business organisations; Law of insolvency; Intellectual property law; Corporate finance and securities regulation; Land law.
Entry Requirements
Interested applicants must possess ONE of the following entrance requirements:
A full GCE 'A' Level certificate with 2 'A' and 2 'AO' passes
OR
Diploma from MDIS or other recognised local/overseas Polytechnics or Professional Institutes
Applicants must be of age 16 and above.
Other equivalent qualification may be considered on a case by case basis.
