About this Course
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Business Contributes to the development of a culture of enterprise in Singapore and other parts of world, and supports efforts to improve economic and community wellbeing. Studying business enables students to appreciate the issues that challenge business and stakeholders. The curriculum of this course covers both the breadth and the inter-disciplinary aspect of business as a whole. This is a multi-disciplinary area which includes subjects such as organizational behaviour, personal financial planning, human resource and marketing channels. The programme is intensive and is designed to offer a general business education.
The Advanced Diploma in Business Studies aims at those who have an interest and passion for Business and Management course and prepare them for a career in business & management and progression to further study.
On completion of the programme students will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of organizations, the external environment
- Conduct research into business and management issues
- Demonstrate cognitive skills of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis
- Communicate both orally and in writing, effectively and appropriately
- Demonstrate effective self-management skills
- Demonstrate other subject specific and transferable skills.
MODULE STRUCTURE
The course consists of 18 modules amounting to a total of 756 contact hours for the full-time pathway and 540 contact hours for the part-time pathway. The programme is delivered over 30 months for both the full-time and part-time pathways.

ENTRY REQUIREMENT
Local Student Admission
Academic level:
- 2 GCE ‘O’ level or Equivalent/ 3 GCE ‘N’ level passes with at least one year working experience
- English Language Proficiency:
- At least a pass in English ‘N’ Level or Equivalent
- Mature students above 21 years of age with secondary school education and working experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis
ASSESSMENT AND GRADING
At the commencement of each module, students will be provided the assessment mode and weightings for the module. Students are assessed based on a combination of formative and summative assessments in each module. A student is deemed to have completed a module when he/she successfully passed both written examination and assignment components.
GRADUATION CRITERIA
Student must pass all prescribed modules (with the exception of exempted modules) with grades A16 to D5, and meet the minimum attendance requirement of the programme for local and international students.
PROSPECTIVE CAREERS/PROGRESSION PATHWAYS
The Advanced Diploma in Business Studies awarded by AEC College is recognized by The University of South Wales for admission to the final year of its BA (Hons) Business Studies Programme.
